Conquer Kilimanjaro, Conquer Polio.
2016 Kilimanjaro Polio Climb
Dr. Raffy Chouljian joined Rotary in 1998. He served as President of his club in 2001 – 2002 and is currently an Assistant District Governor. Dr. Chouljian started the Brush-a-mania dental program for elementary students in 2001 to help them develop good dental hygiene practices. He has been serving as the Chairperson of the program ever since. He has also provided two mobile dental clinics to remote regions of Armenia through the assistance of Rotary International’s Matching Grant program.
Jennifer Boyd joined Rotary in 2011 after hearing about the work Rotarians had done to eradicate Polio from the world. She is the Office Manager of Scarborough North Dental Group and is currently serving as the President of her Rotary Club. She co-Chairs Brush-a-mania with Dr. Chouljian and is the Chair of District 7070’s World Polio Day committee.
After many years of supporting the Rotary International Polio Eradication Program, both Dr. Chouljian and Jennifer Boyd wanted to take part in the immunization clinics hands on. Earlier this year, they joined a group of Rotarians from District 7070 and travelled to India to take part in the National Immunization Days vaccinating children against Polio. Following the days of administering vaccines to young children, and seeing first hand the difference the vaccines have made in these communities, they have decided to raise $100,000 to aid in the Polio eradication effort.
Scarborough North Dental Group is a proud sponsor of both Brush-a-mania and the 2016 Kilimanjaro Polio Climb. They have decided to sponsor the 2016 Kilimanjaro Polio Climb by paying for all costs associated with their Team’s climb and fundraising efforts. They are also donating $10,000, toward their goal of $100,000, to Rotary International to eradicate Polio.
